Conditions for applying the experimental "playing twice" rule.

This rule is intended to give the number 4 player of a team a game when the other side can only field 3 players.

  1. The player playing twice must be ranked at no. 4 or lower in the team.
  2. The player playing twice must play at number 3 first, then at no. 4.
  3. The player playing twice may decide whether s/he plays the rubbers consecutively or with other rubbers in between.
  4. If both teams have only 3 players available, these players may not use this rule and neither team
will receive the point for the 4th rubber.
  5. The captain of the team in which it is desired that a player should play twice must inform the opposing captain
as soon as this need is known.
  6. If the captain of the team in which it is desired that a player should play twice has not informed the opposing captain
by 4pm on the day of the match then both captains must agree for this to be allowed.
  7. If both captains do not agree in the previous condition then the team with three players must forfeit at no. 4.
  8. This experimental rule may not be used in finals.
